Our Story

From Humble Origins to Last Star’s Bold Future

Founding and Early Years

Back in the 1990s, the idea of starting a radio station on the Blood Tribe First Nation in southern Alberta took shape. At the time, Indigenous radio and the entertainment industry for Indigenous people were in their infancy. Last Star Radio 89.9 FM emerged from this pioneering spirit in 1996, marking the beginning of a journey filled with early adventures and valuable learning experiences.
